How to make a gift of stocks and bonds
Electronic Transfer is the most efficient way to transfer securities to the Museum. Notify your broker that you wish to make a gift of securities to Reynolda House Museum of American Art; brokers will need written authorization from you before they can make the transfer. Be sure to tell them the name of the stock that you want to transfer, the number of shares, and where you would like your gift to be designated.
Once you have authorized the transfer, ask your broker to contact Gayle Parker at [email protected] or 336.758.6086 to notify her of the gift. When sending your gift of stock, please indicate in writing that your gift is intended for Reynolda House Museum of American Art.
We also ask that you contact [email protected] or 336.758.5889 to let us know that the gift is in process. Shares are sometimes transferred into our account without information, including the donor's name. Your notification will allow us to match up the donor’s name with the correct stock gift.

There are special rules for valuing a gift of stock. The value of a charitable gift of stock is determined by taking the mean between the high and low stock price on the date of the gift. Mutual fund shares are valued using the closing price for the fund on the date of the gift.
